Weekend trip to Edinburgh

Image
Hello to all of you! This is the Jenny, German Ambassador, writing. I have been to Edinburgh recently, a trip organised by the ESN network. And I thought I'd share some of my impressions and photos with you! To start with, Edinburgh is a great city and totally worth a visit. The fact, that Autumn turned all the trees red and yellow didn't really hurt either! Isn't that beautiful? :) We had a guided tour and some free time and could explore the city on our own. There was so much to see! We even climbed up some hills to enjoy the view over the city. What you can see here is the "new" part of the city, the old part is on far left of the picture - you get a glimpse of the Castle in the upper part. The old part is mostly the so called Royal Mile and links the Hollyrood House (that's where the Queen is staying when she is in Edinburgh) .... ... and the old Edinburgh Castle, where they have tons of exhibitions to visit. And don't forget

London calling!

Image
After being at UEA for quite a while, it was high time I got out of my comfort zone and left the lovely Norwich for the big city--albeit only for a day! I used this occasion to meet a friend and her boyfriend. Most of the day was spent in the Tube, getting from one place to another, but we also toured the British museum and Harrods, as well as Chinatown. There was even a film premiere going on at Leicester Square, with none other than Tom Hanks starring! The train tickets are extremely cheap if bought in advance and it takes just about two hours to get there--if you're feeling like trying out something new or getting out of the University environment for a bit, it's a great idea! Hello everyone, Elodie (French Student Amnassador) is backk ! Today, I wanted to talk to you about one of the many delights of UEA and its surroundings but one event made me change my mind so this week's topic is going to be both USEFUL and (quite) SERIOUS. This weekend, I went on a trip to Edinburgh with Erasmus society (A-MA-ZING city by the way) when my handbag cointaining all my belongings got stolen in a club on Sunday at 2 in the morning -> What a great way to begin the day, isn't it ? Well, let's be honest, I don't know a think about the British police system so I kinda freaked out first but I went to see the travel councillor and thank god, he was there !   So here is we you need to do if you get stolen : - Go see the nearest police office/post to declare it, you give a declaration and they'll give you a very important crime number - Cancel all credit cards and identity ones (like your ID, your NHS card, ...) - You'll get a call

UEA Library

Hi everyone! My name is Ksenia and I am a new Russian Ambassador at UEA! Today I've decided to share with you my favourite place on campus. You might laugh now, as it is not a pub or LCR but... the library :) I just can't get over how beautiful the views from the library are. Depending on where you choose to sit, you can see the river, fields, trees, flowers, rabbits and so much more. It is so peaceful and inspiring (at least for me!) I attach a few pictures so that you can see it for yourself! :) Have a good study day everyone! :) xxx
