Wicked

WICKED The untold story of the witches of Oz Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked tells the story of L. Frank Baum’s characters from “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”, of Glinda The Good and The Wicked Witch of the West. I’ve been wanting to watch this musical for quiet a long time, and since I will be returning home pretty soon, I decided that I would not miss the chance; so I hopped on the bus towards London and the first thing I did arriving was to go the “Apollo Victoria Theatre”   to buy my ticket.   I had my hopes high for Wicked and I can truly say that it exceeded my expectations by far. The musical is wonderful, full of emotions and talent. As described by the Evening Standard, “A remarkable kaleidoscope of magical shocks, surprises and sensations, wicked works like a dream”. In my opinion, this musical is a must see, I cannot find the words to describe it making it justice, so I will simply say… it is WICKED.   Harlen Go...

Shopping in Norwich- Summer 2013

Image
Shopping in Norwich An awesome change in Norwich! Over the summer holidays, some shops and organisations have recognised that there is room for both fun and shopping when out with the family or just shopping with friends. Hurrah!   St Stepehens Rd, Norwich Busy times in summer   The Forum in the centre of Norwich has a week-long programme of FREE (mostly free) children's activities inside and out that yesterday kept so many children thoroughly amused and happy. They painted a car (a real car), listened to a story inside a huge peach, chalked part of an octopus in a massive pavement painting, stroked mini beasts and. With the sun out in this early July, the Forum was packed, both inside and outside. The Forum during the summer I am also pleased to see that most of the large shops and department stores have an excellent programme of events taking place throughout the summer. I am keeping a close eye on what’s happening at The Mall N...

Visiting Sheringham

Image
My flatmate and I were invited to the beautiful and charming port town of Sheringham last Tuesday to speak as part of the primary school's Intercultural Festival. We met with Years 5 and 6 (10- and 11-year-olds) to discuss American language, money, movies, food, politics, and culture in general. We started with a quiz - you'd be surprised how many words are very different in the US and the UK! You can get the quiz online here . If you're American, see if you can figure out how a British schoolkid would answer! If you're not American or British...which kind of English do you think you know better, American English or British English? They're quite different! We joined the kids for lunch - it has been a while since either of us were in a school cafeteria!   And then we got to explore the beautiful town of Sheringham, and get down to the beach! This is not what an American thinks of as "Red Lobster" - for us, it's a seafood chain rest...
