CHRISTMAS IS HERE!

Image
CHRISTMAS IS HERE! I know we still have few weeks till we have our Christmas holidays, but since we've passed one week of December and it has already snowed once, we can officially start wearing Christmas jumpers and drink mulled wine. Also, Let's not forget, Norwich had its christmas lights on. Apparently its the Europe's longest light tunnel of light. It has about 50,000 pulsating LEDs and is 45metres long. And our own UEA is lit up, with the famous Christmas cone! If you're wondering what to do, this Christmas there's plenty more Christmas fair in Norwich. Or if you're in London or have few days off during christmas, will definitely recommend Winter Wonderland for some nice Churros! Best Wishes, Ranu

An International Students Guide to Working in the UK

Image
Hey guys! This blog of mine will be highlighting the basic steps to work in the UK as an international student. I'll be talking about ways you can find part time jobs as a student, what are the essential requirements before you start working and a few tips on getting work after graduation. Example of a BRP where work hours in term time are specified.  If you are applying for part time jobs or work experience as a student make sure to check if you're eligible to work (a certain number of hours) in the UK. This will be clearly specified on your student visa (Tier 4 General) or on your BRP. The usual limit is 20 hours max (per week), during term time . So make sure to check the number of hours you can work on your relevant documents.       2. Get your N ational Insurance Number. Q. What is a national insurance number?  Ans: In order to work in the UK, you require a national insurance number. The format of the number is two prefix lette...

Your Afro-Caribbean Meals, RIGHT HERE

Two words, DIDI’S DINING. Moving to a different country isn’t always easy, let alone a whole other continent. I mean at first It’s thrilling and fun with all the new experiences and encountering new people and cultures and all but if you’re anything like me, it won’t be long before the thoughts of home food will start to haunt you. This was my reality by December of my first year where I was just constantly craving Nigerian food. It’s not like I can’t cook. I definitely can. Chef Chioma all the way. But there’s just something about that home food made by an aunty if not by mommy directly and what I wanted the most was a bowl of ogbono with assorted meats and some pounded yam that I would fully take to with my hands. I wanted some asun (goat meat) or suya. After research and research, I found Didi’s Dining. Didi’s Dining is an authentic African & Caribbean restaurant here in Norwich and you can find everything from Jollof, to Gizdodo, to Jerk Chicken & ...
