Getting around Norwich by bicycle

About 20% of UEA staff and students regularly cycle to campus. It is cost efficient, time efficient and helps to keep you fit and healthy. UEA has invested over £600,000 in improved cycling facilities in recent years including:

•Provision of high quality facilities

•Increasing secure, covered bike parking

•Maintaining cycle routes

•Working with local organisations to identify safe cycling routes

•Providing a "Dr Bike" service offering free cycle health checks and a minor repair and maintenance service plus quality used cycles

•For staff, government backed "cycle to work" scheme

For students who are thinking of owning a second hand bike, below are some links to help you out

When it comes to fixing your bike and keeping you on the road (or path) the university has a cycle maintenance workshop right here on campus.

The ‘Dr Bike' repair centre is run by the Norwich Bicycle Repair Co-operative Ltd, a not-for-profit business that aims to promote cycling in an affordable and accessible way - recommending only necessary repairs with many services free of charge. If you are looking to get your bike repaired Dr Bike offers same-day repair slots on a first-come first-served basis. These start from 8.30am each day but are very popular – so it's probably best to arrive early. Staff and Students can also pre-book for a free cycle health and safety check.

Dr Bike stocks a selection of refurbished and guaranteed bikes for sale on site and also has a wide range of cycling equipment to buy including lights, locks, pumps and repair kits. Visit the Norwich Bicycle Repair Co-operative Ltd website for more information. They also offer:

•Free advice

•Free oil

•Free minor adjustments

•Free to use cycle pump

You can also donate your unwanted cycles to Dr Bike for refurbishment and recycling.
