Welcome back to UEA for the next term! Few days ago, I celebrated Maghe sankranti so heres just a little bit of insight to what it is :)
Maghe Sankranti
It is a Nepalese festival observed on the first of Magh in Nepali Calendar, which falls around mid January. It is to cerebrate the end of ill-omened month of Poush, when all religious ceremonies are forbidden.
Maghe Sankranti brings us some of delicious foods like Till ko laddu (Brown sesame seeds fudge), chakku (Molasys) and tarul (yam).
There is a wide variation in the celebration of Makar Sankranti (Maghe sankranti has various names depending on the place) throughout India as well. It Gujurat, it is a festival of the young and old and colourful kiles are flown all around.
