Brace yourself - Deadlines are coming!
It's 3rd of December, 8 degrees outside, UEA campus and Norwich are covered in Christmas lights, all the societies in university hold Xmas parties literally every day and all you want is just to cover yourself in a blanket, grab a big mug of hot chocolate and watch Christmas movies all the day long (Even though we don't celebrate Christmas back in Azerbaijan, I'm kind of getting into the mood here in the UK).
But instead of being a happy little child you have to face the reality of being a university student and work hard before enjoying Christmas. However, revision can be fun and motivating as well if you know where exactly on campus you should study for your exams. So here's a the list of quiet and peaceful spots on campus, from me to you. Merry Christmas ;)
1. Library silent areas
If you are considering spending a solid 4-5 hours revising for your exams, you should go straight to the library. The library provides you with a couple of choices on where to work :
hungry? - bring your snacks and study on floors 0 and 1.
getting distracted? - go to the floors 2 and 3 and enjoy silent studying.
bored? - go to the ground floor computers area and meet all the people you know.
studying with friends? - 0 and 1 floors are good for working in groups because you are allowed to have a discussion; alternatively you can book a room and revise there with your friends.
2. Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts.
Yes, yes, the famous Sainsbury Centre is a perfect place for your revision session. To be exact, I'm talking about the Cafe in SCVA. Fresh coffee, stunning views outside the window, art exhibitions and walks around the lake for revision breaks and most important - SILENCE. You can study alone or with your friends, have hot food or snacks - isn't that super convenient?
3. The Enterprise Centre.
This building was announced as the most eco-friendly building in the UK. And I swear this building has this magical, inspirational atmosphere. Maybe it's because, as well as being an educational building, TEC is home to a number of local entrepreneurial firms in Norwich and Norfolk. So you can always come across some successful entrepreneurs there and maybe have a chat. The ground floor of the TEC has a cafe where you can grab a snack, pop yourself on the sofas on the same floor, put on your headphones and revise for your exams there all the day long.
4. Union House
Union House provides you with a wide choice of places to study depending on your preferences. On the ground floor of the House, there's a Union Cafe and plenty of space to work. It's a bit loud due to the amount of students who hang out there during their breaks from lectures and seminars, but if you are the type of person who prefers to study with the headphones on, you will love this place. Also, you can book a Bookable Room on the floor 1 with your revision buddies. Rooms are very comfortable and equipped with big screens and projectors. After revisions session, you can go down to the Blue Bar or Red Bar to grab a drink and celebrate the end of the day.
I hope these tips will help you find the best place to study. We at the International Office wish you the best of luck with your exams and a very merry Christmas!
