The National Trust has cared for the iconic mountains, fells, and farms of the Lake District for over 100 years. Each valley has a unique character - whether remote or bustling - there's something to inspire every nature lover, adrenalin seeker, literary maestro or archaeology buff...

Accessible by train, much more convinient with the car, the closest city is Lancaster.
(South of Mainland)

(North East)
The Farne Islands lie two to three miles off the Northumberland coast midway between the fishing village of Seahouses and the magnificent Castle of Bamburgh. As well as being the most famous Sea Bird Sanctuary in the British Isles they also have a large colony of Atlantic or Grey Seals. Boat round trip on and off the island is 15 pound, entrance fee to the island 7 pound (adults).

The West Highland Line, which runs from Glasgow's Queen Street Station via Fort William to the port of Mallaig, is one of the most exciting and dramatic railway journeys in the world. (Northern Ireland)
Take a boat trip on the MV Joyce with the nautical types of the Lagan Boat Company to the slipway where Titanic was launched and the dry dock where she was fitted, as part of their absorbing Titanic Tour, which takes you around the historic Harland and Wolff shipyard. You’ll get a unique perspective on the rejuvenated waterfront with its eclectic mix of Victorian, Edwardian and modern landmark buildings. The cheapest ticket from London stansted is by bmibaby airlines. 30 pound return to belfast or take KLM from norwich-belfast direct flight for 105 pound return.
