All About Korean Society!

UEA KOREAN SOCIETY 2017-18 

Today, I would like to introduce UEA Korean society. It is not only for Korean students to gather but also for other students to join and share their interest in Korean culture, whether that be K-pop, food, or dramas. 

I have been a part of Korean society for three years, and I can confidently say it has been amazing. One of the main events Korean society organise is Korean lesson for UEA students who are interested in learning the language. It is run by Korean students at UEA, so if you are a prospective Korean student reading this, why not consider joining and teaching Korean to others! I am sure you will enjoy a lot!!

Meet and Greet 

Meet and greet was our first event to welcome new members and students to the society. It is usually between late September and early October, almost right after the new academic year starts. This year, we had 120 people coming for the event. At the event, we had a few Korean dishes served and games to allow members to get to know each other.

All-in-One night

In October, we had one event called ALL-IN-ONE Night where we played games then watched a Korean comedy film. We played memory games with pictures taken in Korea and heads-up with different topics.

Halloween 

This year’s Halloween was GREAT!! We had a little more than just Halloween-themed clubbing!! We had a Halloween-themed Carnival, where different societies had photo booth, make-up station, game stations, and FOOD stalls. Christmas Ball 

Christmas ball was one of the most memorable events in term 1. We got to collaborate with Malaysian, Southeast Asian and Taiwanese society for the more culturally diverse ball. We had a range of games throughout the night from lucky draw to secret love letter. Alongside that, we had a great three-course meal at the hotel. Members who joined got to meet many other people from other societies, so if you would like to meet more people from different countries, do make sure to check out societies!! Other than this, Korean society holds many other events including Korean lessons. If you are interested in getting to more about Korean culture, make sure that you check this out!! Korean society have a wide variety of nationalities in the society, from Korea to UK and anywhere in between. So do not hesitate to join if you have a passion for learning Korean or if you just love K-pop! It is a platform for you to meet other Kpop lovers as well as good friends from all over the world!
