Chinese New Year is approaching !

Chinese New Year also know as the Chinese Lunar New Year is the most important traditional Chinese festival.
Chinese New Year is celebrated in countries with signigicant Chinese populations, such as Hong kong, Macaus, Malaysia or even in UK. Although Chinese New Year is not an offical holiday, many studetns like me celebrate Chinese New Year with friends here !

We usually have a so-called 'reunion dinner' on New Year's Eve where all the members of the maily, near or far, get together for the celebration.

My favourite food from the Chinese New Year is Nian Gao (it is like a Chinese New Year sticky rice pudding) of course. Its pronunciation is a homeophone for a more prosperous year.
While my favourite activity in CNY is getting red packets (with real money inside of course) from married couples or the elderly. Usually they pass out red packets only to unmarried juniors. To get the red packets from couples, we need to say New Year Greeting and a married person would not turn down such a request
as it would mean he or she would be out of luck this year!
