Norfolk and Norwich Festival

If you're in or around Norfolk from the 9th to the 24th of May, you really have no excuse not to attend this event!

This is a yearly arts festival which collaborates with local, national and international partners to produce a huge amount of work for a variety of audiences. It is one of the oldest surviving arts festivals in the UK: its origins can be traced back to 1772! However, it was not until 1988 that the Festival more or less as we know it today became an annual event.

The first acts for 2014 are being confirmed just now, and, according to their website, include:

Two superstars of contemporary music Madeleine Peyroux and Hugh Masekela – play major concerts in Norwich for the very first time. [...] There are two exhilarating new shows from Festival favourites Circa and Michael Clark Company, whilst the Festival Chorus unite with the renowned Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, fresh from their performances at The Proms and Royal Festival Hall, for a programme exploring the profound effects of war. Some of the best international Hip Hop Dance companies will ignite King’s Lynn Corn Exchange at Breakin’ Convention.

Previous years have welcomed a diverse range of artists to the festival, from writer Ali Smith (Hotel World, The Accidental) to both classical and contemporary musicians and ensembles; even theatre, circus and dance have their place in this eclectic festival.

Tickets for the early shows are already on sale through the phone or online; make sure to check their website for all the details!
