Forget the stress, remember the spring!

Image
many students (especially in UK) will get distress when it comes to spring. its because the examination time around May and June. lack of sleep because study hard, affraid of getting bad scores or even failed, there are so many reasons to hate May and June. especially when you find a subject from your course that its hard to understand, most of the students will get more stress than before. well, like a glass with a half full of water... it can be two different perception on that glass. some with say the glass is a half empty, its not enough! while others maybe say: alright,, its a good sign, we already have a half full and we're close enough to make this glass full! this May and June maybe the time when most of students grumble, its the 'hell' time. but consider another factors in this season. we got a lot of reasons to be happy, at least because this is the spring times! from my own experience, spring is one of the most beautiful moment to stay in UK. here the reasons i

Jeff Dunham Getaway!!

Image
Are you guys stressed from revising for your exams? Well, I was very stressed from revising for my upcoming exams and so, I head off to London for a day trip to watch Jeff Dunham!! Many of you might not know him as compared to Russell Peters! :) He's a famous comedian from the USA and he came on a UK tour this month. I was lucky enough to get tickets together with my friends to watch him at the O2 arena last Saturday, 24th April 2010. He went to different parts of the UK before performing in London, including Manchester, Glasgow, Sheffield and Wolverhampton. About Jeff Dunham? Check him out :- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Dunham He's a comedian who uses dummies as part of his acts. That night at the O2 arena he brought out Walter, Achmed the Terrorist, Peanut, Bubba J and José Jalapeño on a Stick. One of my favourite characters is Achmed the Terrorist! He's a skeletal corpse of a suicide bomber and he;s used based on the issue of terrorism. His famous quotes of that ni

Need help revising?

We are already at the end of April and most students here will start their exams soon. Unfortunately, I will be one of them. It is quite hard to learn everything a few days before the exams. For some of us, it will be more like "discovering things" instead of revising! lol Are you giving up on going out or listening to music yet? Well, that won't be so necessary. Did you know that listening to loud music (especially rock music) stimulates your brain? This in turn provides a temporary boost in your brain performance. It should only be done before you are about to start studying. Do google it if you want more information on how it works. Apparently, music also improves focus and reading. I was pleasantly surprised to discover all that. However, that doesn't mean that you should constantly listen to music while studying. Unfortunately, listening to music while doing work just makes me forget what i am supposed to be learning and makes me remember lyrics instead. So, good

Short trip to near Norwich

Image
Hello, my friends! It is getting warmer and warmer, it is "Spring" now! So, why don't you do a short trip?? I will introduce about the good spot to visit within 1 hour from Norwich station! 1: Cromer - This is one of the popular bearch in Norfolk! Even though you cannot swim in the sea (it is too cold to swim!!), the ocean view is really nice! Great Yamous and Lowesoft are more famous than Cromer, but I reccomend you to visit Cromer! Also, Sheringham is awesome! 2: Ely - There is really famous and beasutiful cathedral in Ely. Everyone who has been there says same phrase- "That Cathedral is the best!!!!" Additionally, there are forest, rivers and a lot of animals- if you go there, you can refresh on your mind! 3: Ipswich - Ipswich is one of the interchange station, however, this city is not only for interchange but also for sightseeing!! The city amd river, also this city has a lot of histrical place. Even though this city is not like the city such like London, t

Getting back to Norwich

I am one of many who were slightly panicking when ash from Eyafjallajökull, the volcano on Iceland, suddenly cancelled most flights in Europe. Luckily, I ’m also one of the not-so-many who had options. I was kindly offered a ride to the Netherlands, and managed to get tickets for the ferry going from Hoek van Holland to Harwich. So, after driving from Oslo, spending one night in Copenhagen, one in Harmelen (Holland) and hours on the road, I am finally back on British soil - and in time for the final lectures, seminars and exams. I hope everyone who’s stuck abroad will be able to get back within a few days. To those who are already at uni; good luck with revision, exams and essays! Una, UEA Norwegian Student Ambassador

ONE REPUBLLICE LIVE AT UEA~~

Image
Last night there was a gig at the LCR and guess what?? ONE REPUBLIC was at UEA performing their UK tour 2010 concert LIVE AT THE LCR!! This was definitely a life-time experience for myself as I would not expect such a band to perform at UEA and they DID!!!! :)) The doors opened at 7.30pm and their supporting guest was a young newcomer, Alex Gardner. He sang about 5 songs including his lates debut single! He was very energetic and he brought the crowd alive. One Republic came out at around 8.30pm and they started singing!! They sang all their top hit songs including Apologize, Say, Good life, Secrets, All the right move, Marching on, Stop n stare, Everybody loves me, Goodbye Apathy and they ended their concert with their last album, Waking Up as the encore!! The concert ended around 10.30pm and we waited outside the back door for them to come out!! Guess what.. I took incididual pictures with them and I got each of their autographs signed on my ticket!! It was such an amazing night and

Ice Cream Season!

Seeing as I've spent most of my Easter break in the library and there are only two weeks left till the end of the semester (and one dissertation to go), you'd think that I'd be reading and writing full speed ahead as per usual. However, it is now ice cream season! The sun is out! Really, really out! The birds are twittering! Students are making out on the grass! I would like to travel. As you probably know, thousands of people have been unable to fly in or out of Heathrow in recent days. This is because of the Iceland volcanic ash cloud which has recently prompted three Royal Navy ships to fetch some 200,000 Britons home (see the Guardian: http://tinyurl.com/winaroyalnavyholiday ) and also seen the mushrooming of facebook pages such as "Hello my names iceland, AND I JUST CHUNDERED EVERYWHERE" and "Volcanic Ash - That's Why Mums Can't Go To Iceland". Me, well, my budget stretches only so far. I don't think I can get away anywhere particularly

Beware - Clock is ticking so Exam time is coming

I am sure that most of you are a bit concerned about the exams by the time now and you should be anyway. Exam bells are ringing and course deadlines are waking up you evrery minute reminding you to got to do this by tommorow. It actually adds more pressure when i see students chating with fat glass of alcohol and some of them lying in sunshine across the broad. Even more trouble is that, every year pharmacy students finish their exams at the very end of exam time and so more frustration added by not attending LCR nights. Aren't we poor students? you may think i am bleeding and realising my pain to you but that is Bitter Truth that i have to swallow. Guess what this is my probale last pill as this is my last exams of the course so actually i am quite excited about it. So I would to like to sing, "Give me some sunshine, give me some rain, i wanna grow up once again" na na na na na... Thanks UEA India Ambassador

Volcano !!

As the Volcano explodes, the volcanic ashes cover the sky and affect all flights going in and out the Europe Union; a couple of my friends could not manage to get on a plane. They told me that they cannot get a flight until May; some of their dissertation deadlines are approaching while some of them start their exams in the early May.It really make people panic ! Most of them are stuck in Hong Kong, but there is one exception. One of my friends was stuck in Amsterdam airport for almost 100 hours till now, which is more or less similar to Tom Hanks in " The Terminal". Well, one difference between them is that she still got her nationality. After hours and hours of long queue, they still got no reply from the information desk. No flight, no train( Eurostar have been overbooked), nothing but to wait, wait and wait..... It reminded me when I was in Paris during Christmas break, where I was also stuck due to the break down of the rail. We are very lucky, because we were immediatel
