The Streets and the Ziggurats

During my first semester at UEA, I attended a memorable concert with The Streets at the LCR. Having bought tickets to see him for a second time on campus this February, I was quite surprised when I discovered the cover art for his fifth and final album (being released just over a week from now). Not only is my time at UEA marked by a Streets concert at the beginning and the end of it (this being my final year), but the cover of ‘ Computers & Blues ‘ , features Norfolk Terrace! Norfolk Terrace is, along with Constable Terrace, design by Sir Denys Lasdun, and a grade II listed building . Together with other buildings on campus, the Ziggurats have won UEA over 20 awards for its architecture.  The feel of the campus, consisting of glass and concrete combined with large green areas, is one of the many things I appreciate about this university. The School of Dev off to meet the Queen!

Indeed this new year already looks very exciting! The school of Development which is am so pleased to be associated with has won the Queen's Anniversary Award in recognition of the research and work it has been doing in developing countries and its contribution to improving people's wellbeing worldwide. The good news came towards the end of last term and were received by a very enthusiastic team of students and staff. The award pr esentation ceremony will be held at Buckingham Palace on the 19th of February, and I am even more excited because I was invited to tag along. Finally we get to go beyond the big gates and see what really goes on in that palace.....Now before I get ahead of myself.......... I thought I ought to share this information mainly because all the prospective students out there need to know how well the UEA Development department is doing.
