Interview   1. What have you done before coming to UEA? - Background of the student I had studied about international development at ICU for two years in Japan. Having an interest in business and fair trade, I engaged with several activities such as developing university goods with fair trade factory in India.   2. Why did you choose UEA and your course ? Though I had offers from other universities in the UK, I decided to come to UEA mainly because of the coursed contents. Also, I felt a staff and a lecturer came from UEA are very friendly when I went to the study abroad fair in Tokyo.   3. When do you feel that you made a great choice to study abroad to UEA? I am really glad that I do study abroad! This makes me realised things I have never noticed when I stayed in Japan, since study in the UK means that you need to think about your county and environment which is familiar with from the point of view of outsider. Also, people often ask my opinion

£4 movie tickets on Mondays! I couldn’t believe it when my friend told me last year! I had no idea there was such a promotion going on at the VUE and the best part is, it applies for all kinds of films, not just the ones which are weeks old! As long as it’s out in cinemas, you can watch it for £4 at the VUE! This means you can watch the latest Marvel, Star Wars blockbusters with a pal and it’s going to cost the same as one ticket at ODEON! All you have to do is to register an account under MyVUE and you are good to go with the code attached with your account! You don’t even need to purchase the tickets in advance, you can just go up to the counter, show your unique QR code and you can get discounted tickets too! Boating in the broads This is something that is unique to Norwich because we are so near to the Broads that it’s completely possible to rent a boat for a day and tour around the Broads with your friends! They have boats that can carry up to 8 adults so if you s

Matar Paneer recipe!

Image
Living away from home has made me a cook. To be honest, until recently I did as less as I possibly could to stay away from the kitchen- beans on toast, takeaways, good ol' pasta and pesto! But now inspired from Masterchef, I have tried my best to try new recipes, and this one is my absolute favourite. Its Matar Paneer (matar meaning peas and paneer is a type of cottage cheese) For the recipe, you need: Peas (can be frozen) Paneer (easily found in supermarkets like asda and tesco)- cut into small cubes Spices: Garam masala, ground coriander, cumin, tumeric powder, chilli Tomato and tomato puree Onions, garlic and ginger Optional: cashews, bay leaf, cream, coriander  Method: Firstly, with little oil in a pan fry the paneer cubes until golden brown. You can then transfer it in a bowl with cold water to get rid of the water. Fry onion and garlic in vegetable oil until onion is slightly transparent. Add cashews and ginger and fry for 2 minutes. Then add tomatoes

international women's day

Hello everyone, I am Dalel, a new student ambassador for Kazakhstan. This is my first post dedicated to today's International Women's Day , which is celebrated every year on 8th of March. Its a day dedicated only to women and their achievements, contributions to the world today. It is also a day to promote the participation of women as equal partners with men in achieving sustainable development, peace, security, and full respect for human rights. 8th of March is a public holiday in many countries of the world especially in post-Soviet states. The history of the international women's day started in 1909  when The first National Woman's Day was observed in the United States on 28 February. The Socialist Party of America designated this day in honour of the 1908 garment workers' strike in New York, where women protested against working conditions. 1917    Against the backdrop of the war, women in Russia chose to protest and strike for "Bread and Peace&q

😄Easter in Norwich     Easter is coming and we have only one week left for the break. Yay!   I just found an article, which says Easter in Norwich and tells you where to eat in Easter day.   Here are some suggestions from the article.   Saporita Bishops Dining Room & Wine Bar Grosvenor Fish Bar Amaretto The Rooftop Gardens Benedicts Roger Hickman’s Restaurant The Maids Head Hotel ( Visit.Norwich, 2018) I have not been any of these restaurants, unfortunately :). But I am sure it is worth to go. Visiting there with family or friends can sometimes be the most memorable moments. I already want to wish everyone Happy Easter Break!
