Hello everyone
I thought it would be nice to post some amazing facts of the region I am covering. So this week its Nepal!

1) The National Flag
Nepal is the only country in the world with a non- quadrilateral (rectangular) shaped flag. With blue border and red filler, the national flag has sun and moon embedded in it. The two triangles represent the Himalayan Mountains and two major religions Hinduism and Buddhism that people most follow in the country.

2) The Mount Everest
Nepal is the home to the tallest mountain in the world and this mountain is known as 'Sagarmatha'. Not only this but it also has eight of the top ten tallest mountains in the world. Amazing, right?

With Mount Everest being the peak of the world at the height of 8,848 m, there are others like the Tilicho lake- the highest lake on earth at the height of 4800m, Shey Phoksundo Lake- the deepest lake of 145m at the height of 3600m, the deepest gorge of Kalidanki of 1200m and the highest valley on Earth- the Arun valley.

7) Gurkhas
This must be one of the most interesting part of Nepal. Countries like India and China who surround Nepal were ruled by foreign powers in the history but no power could suppress Nepalese and the will of legendary Gurkhas in taking over Nepal. Gurkhas are also well known for their leadership, bravery, courage and no-fear nature that they showed in the World Wars. Several quotations have been made in favor of Gurkhas and the most famous of them is “If a man says he is not afraid of dying, he must be lying or is a Gurkha.” Gurkhas are also regarded as the most powerful strike force for any wars and fights.
