Studying Law at UEA!

A student's personal account:

“When I decided to study in England it came to me as a challenge academically and emotionally, because the mere idea of staying away from my family was scary” this was only the beginning of Kena Dwivedi’s journey into the competitive and exhilarating world of Law.

Ranked eighth in UK for Law by Guardian’s League Tables in 2016, UEA provides several comprehensive courses in Law, including the intensive one year Graduate Diploma in Law not offered by many universities. Like Kena, most students have a unique experience coming into UEA’s comprehensive and diverse course, whether international or not, and have similar opinions on what it’s like to be at UEA doing Law.

Kena’s favourite aspects involved a faculty that not just introduces you to legal studies, but also makes you into an employable and presentable lawyer, strengthening your chances of getting a job straight after. “I decided to study law but was not sure if I can put up my arguments clearly and how to figure out my piece of work, but during my seminars and lectures, my professors and seminar leaders not only taught us about the legal world but administered how to be presentable and produce a substantial piece of work. All my seminar leaders and lecturers were open to questions and were friendly so that students don't feel shy or hesitated”. Kena pointed out that the positivity also helped her become an extrovert in a way, opening up her personality to her peers, who were just as encouraging.

Even though the Law school was welcoming and exciting, and UEA offered a wide variety of societies, coming from the buzz and exhilaration of Delhi, I wondered if Kena felt out of place. Kena’s response was all-encompassing, and quick owing to the revision madness that Law students are fervent about. In her own words, “Apart from academics the life of a student in Norwich is very safe this place gives you a feeling that it was just made for students!” by that she is also referring to the many restaurants and cafes (and clubs) Norwich has to offer young people. That whatever atmosphere you seek, Norwich has a niche for you.

She continues, “It would not be wrong to crown Norwich as a literary hub! It's unique placement provides you a quick switch from a peaceful place to a hustling bustling city like London, if big cities are more your thing, you could even fly to Amsterdam in less than an hour. Hence UEA is not only academically attractive but the place like Norwich provides you myriad opportunities to enjoy your stay in England”

Norwich is a student city housing one of the top twenty UK universities that is UEA and both are an incredibly exhilarating place for a Law student to be!
