Some Little Facts About Norwich

Some of us have spent years in Norwich and never really knew about it. When asked we tend to just say 'It is somewhere on the East Side of England, near Cambridge' and they would be like 'OHH I KNOW Cambridge!' but never Norwich.

So today I searched up some little interesting facts that you might find fasinating so you could tell your friends and families what Norwich really is..

1. Norwich was actually found by the Romans. explains why we have so many churches here.
2. Norwich was once the second biggest city in England, just after London, for around 250 years.
3. Norfolk is the 5th largest county today in England. It was claimed that they were the biggest shopping mall in 2005!
4. Did you know Norwich use to be underwater? Thats why theres no hills!
5. Norwich is the windiest place. No doubt about that.
6. Chapelfield use to be a chocolate factory for Cadbury. Willi Wonka in Norwich?!
7. Jude Law from Contagion, Sherlock Holmes, Repo Man, actually graduated from UEA studying History. You know we also rejected Hugh Grant but he went to Oxford instead...
8. Our Norwich Football Team's theme song is 'On the Ball City'. Lyrics are here. We use to be in the Champions League!
9. Norwich was not affected by the industrial revolutions. Hmmm hard to believe actually..
10. Norwich has the lowest crime rate in UK. Highest is actually London, Birmingham and Manchester. This is what I call home baby!

  1. Norwich was named by the william the congueror originally Norwic. this word roughly translates as Nor - North and wic - land port. with the two many imports being wool and spices.
