Hellooooo! Recently, I have received several inquiries regarding the Vice-Chancellor scholarships for Prospective undergraduate international students. So, I think that a blog entry of some tips will be helpful. Here are my advice gathered from my experiences.

First question: In approximately 250 words, please tell us your reasons for applying to the University of East Anglia.
  • You will need to research about UEA (google, website) to outline unique/ distinctive features of UEA and tailor them to your major/ course. For example: if you apply to a Pharmacy course, it is helpful that you mention the prestigious position of UEA in the national ranking.
  • What is beyond your course? Student life, help/support from other services (such as Dean of Students, MyCareerCentral etc.), societies and clubs, facilities (Sportpark, LCR, etc). UEA is highly ranked in Student Satisfaction Survey. What does it mean to you?
  •  Also, going to UEA means living in Norwich. What is nice about Norwich that you want to study at UEA and want to live here? (also living expenses here compared to other places, safety – Norwich is in top 10 safest place to live etc, shopping etc.)
  •  You may talk about scholarship (i.e UEA has scholarships for international students).
  •  Cultural diversity at UEA – i.e Black history month, LGBT+ community.
  •  Some personal engagement J
  •  Be sincere and enthusiastic!

Second question: In approximately 250 words, please explain how an undergraduate degree from UEA would enable you to make a difference in the future.
  •  So, three key phrases are: an UG degree from UEA, make a difference, in the future.
  •  In the future can be the near future (during your time at UEA?) or the far future (after you graduate) or both.
  • What does an undergraduate degree from UEA comprise? (think broadly)
  •  Make a difference: you may want to consider different objects here – make a difference to whom? You (making new friends, fluent in English and maybe another language you are inspired to learn from your foreign friends, your personal and intellectual development etc)? Your country? Your hometown? Your field? Be creative and ambitious here!
  • And especially, to UEA. It is also nice to briefly mention: what could you bring to UEA to make this place different and a better place. At UEA, we have a strong sense of betterment for the community – so how can you contribute to that? Be proactive and confident!
  • Your own ideas.

The last note is that it is recommended to read several examples but it is the best that you write the applicate from your heart. The admission team here can definitely assess the sincerity/ genuineness in your piece of writing – and that will decide to land you in a 25% or a 50% scholarship.

Good luck guys!
