Bulgaria accepted electronic voting, and WE were part of it!

About 5 hours ago, Bulgarian prime ministers voted 136 for and 56 against the motion to add electronic voting as an option during referendums and elections. This is a landmark achievement for Bulgarian nationals across the world, and this includes those of us in Norwich.

Back in October, there was a referendum on this very same proposition initiated by one of our most prominent show hosts, Slavi Trifonov.

Local Bulgarians and some current and former UEA students took to the Maids Head Hotel to do their part in pushing this goal to success.

The referendum sadly failed to garner enough votes, due to poor timing and people's general lack of information regarding electronic voting. However, it reminded politicians of our country's great motto - unity makes strength. And now that enough pressure has been mounted on them, they have conceded to our demands and passed the motion with overwhelming approval. Today was a resounding victory for our fledgling democracy but the real battle is yet to come. Stay strong, stay united!
